First-time setup after creating your account

After you create an admin account or sign in when setup is not finished, Govern365 walks you through three steps: profile, workspace, then invite team. This matches the screens at /onboarding/profile, /onboarding/workspace, and /onboarding/invite.

Who sees this flow

  • New admins who used Create an account are sent to profile first, then workspace, then invites.
  • If you already have a session but have not finished setup, the app sends you to the correct step automatically.
  • Some Hub-provisioned accounts skip the first profile screen and start at workspace setup (your email and password were collected during purchase).

Step 1 — Set up your profile (/onboarding/profile)

Goal: Tell teammates how you should appear (name and optional photo).

  1. Enter First name (required in the app before you can continue).
  2. Enter Last name (optional, but your full display name is built from both fields).
  3. Optionally add a profile photo (drag-and-drop or choose a file; images only).
  4. Choose Continue (or the primary action that submits this step).

You are then taken to workspace setup.

Step 2 — Set up your workspace (/onboarding/workspace)

Goal: Name your organization, choose a workspace handle (URL segment), confirm your email with a verification code, and optionally upload a company logo.

  1. Company name — required.
  2. Workspace handle — required; appears as part of your workspace URL in the preview (for example your-domain/your-handle).
  3. Verification code — a six-digit code was emailed to you when your account was created (and may be refreshed during this flow). Enter all six digits. The code expires after a limited time; if it expires, use Resend code when the app offers it and enter the new code.
  4. Company logo — optional (PNG, JPEG, or WebP work well).

Hub-provisioned users: The app may ask you to request a verification email first so a fresh code is sent before the code field is shown.

After a successful submit, you go to Invite your team.

If something goes wrong

SituationWhat to do
Wrong or expired codeUse Resend code, wait for the email, enter the new six-digit code.
"Handle already taken"Change the workspace handle to something unique.
Too many resend attemptsWait a minute and try again (the app may show a rate-limit style message).

Step 3 — Invite your team (/onboarding/invite)

Goal: Optionally invite colleagues by email with a role (Admin, Editor, Reviewer, or Auditor), or skip and invite later from settings.

  • You can invite up to three people on this screen (one row per person).
  • Each row needs a valid email and a role.
  • Skip for now (or equivalent) finishes onboarding without sending invites; you can invite people later from the product.

When you send invites or skip, you are taken to the main dashboard (/dashboard).

After onboarding

Once all three steps are complete, you use Govern365 from the Dashboard (/dashboard) and other tools. If you ever have no workspaces but are past onboarding, the app sends you to Create a workspace (/create-workspace) instead; that flow is separate from this three-step wizard.

  • Framework setup — ISO / regulations and controls after you have a workspace.
  • Create a workspace — if you have no workspace after onboarding.
  • Sign up — creating the admin account that starts this flow.
  • Sign in — returning if you leave and come back mid-setup.
