AI use cases
AI use cases are your register of real-world AI systems — name, risk level, owner, status, and links to models, risks, and frameworks.
Open Inventory → AI use cases in the sidebar.
Frameworks here vs on Frameworks
These are two different lists.
| Where | What you attach |
|---|---|
| Frameworks in the sidebar | ISO 27001, ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, ISO 9001, and GDPR Compliance Framework — one program for the whole workspace. See Framework setup. |
| This page (create, edit, or Settings on a use case) | EU AI Act, NYC Local Law 144, and HIPAA Security Rule |
You cannot add the EU AI Act, NYC Local Law 144, or HIPAA on the Frameworks page. Attach those on the use case. That unlocks Frameworks/regulations, and for the EU AI Act also FRIA, CE marking, and Monitoring.
Registry (the list)
The title is AI use cases.
- Chips at the top show Total plus counts by risk level (Minimal, Limited, High risk, Unacceptable).
- Switch List view (table) or Grid view (cards).
- Search with Search projects…
- Admin and Editor see New project. If your plan has reached the use-case limit, you are asked to upgrade instead.
List columns: Use case ID, title, AI risk level, role, start date, last updated, and a ⋯ menu (Edit / Delete for Admin and Editor).
Click a title to open that use case.
Create or edit
New project (or Edit on a row) opens a form. Typical fields:
- Project title, owner, status
- Geography, AI risk classification, high-risk role, start date
- Team members
- Applicable frameworks — EU AI Act, NYC Local Law 144, and HIPAA Security Rule
- Goal, target industry, description
Create project saves and opens the use case. Update project saves edits.
There is also a full-page New AI project form (same idea: name, description, purpose, department, risk level, optional owner). After it saves, the use case opens.
Inside a use case
The header shows the name, status, and risk level. Next step buttons move it through review:
| Status | Who can act | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Admin, Editor | Submit for Review |
| Under review | Admin, Reviewer | Approve or Reject |
| Rejected | Admin, Editor | Resubmit for Review |
| Approved | Admin | Move to Production |
| Production | Admin | Retire |
| Retired | — | Read-only |
On the left, tabs:
- Overview — owner, status, goal, team, completion (if a framework is linked), and a risk summary.
- Use case risks — risks for this use case only (heat map and table). Not the same as the organisation Risk Register.
- Linked models — models tied to this use case. Add or change links in the Model registry.
- Frameworks/regulations — EU AI Act, NYC Local Law 144, HIPAA, and any org program this use case is tied to.
- CE marking, FRIA, Monitoring — only when EU AI Act is linked.
- Activity — Coming soon (not a live timeline yet).
- Settings — edit details, attach EU AI Act / NYC LL144 / HIPAA, or (Admin) delete the use case.
If no frameworks are linked, Frameworks/regulations tells you to add them in Settings.
